MicroAvionics has been refining the design of our intercom systems for many years, 21 in fact (as of 2024). You might wonder, why would I need Bluetooth built into my intecom if I don't want to make phone calls? Well, Bluetooth offers connectivity to other devices. For instance, you can connect your intercom to an iPad or tablet via Bluetooth. If the tablet runs navigation software like Skydemon.aero, you'll also receive audible alerts. These alerts can be voice prompts warning you when you're about to enter controlled airspace.
As you can see, Bluetooth is highly valuable. It's much better to have Bluetooth and receive timely warnings from your tech than to get a letter from your aviation authority. However, this technology is not a substitute for proper flight planning, which you must always conduct.
